Make Reader, O Manger: Like A Child

Nativity

Christ tells us in today’s Gospel, “I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” (Mark 10:11-16)

We are called to be imitators of Christ. Jesus entered into our fallen condition as a child. We are to enter the kingdom of God like a child.

According to the Fathers (via Blessed Theopylact) a little child is guileless. It’s a temptation to try and manipulate people and events. If we could be straightforward, trusting in God’s providence, His strength, His will for our lives then we can become like little children. Let’s turn to Him first, like a child would run to their parent.

I tell you the truth, God will take care of that (whatever it is). In fact, He already has and He always will.
