Joyful Noise: The Reset Buttons

There are some days where I’ve just had enough of one thing.

I’ve been inside all day. Time to go do something outside, I think. Nature rejuvenates me.

I’ve been sitting stationary, staring at a screen. Time to go do something with my hands, I think. My mind likes my body to craft things.

My children have been wrestling with me and clamouring all over me throughout the afternoon. Time to have some alone time, I think. We all need solitude.

My body is stiff and creaking. Time to go exercise the muscles, I think. Blood pumping through the veins also travels through your mind.

I’m preoccupied with a particular problem, or the troubles of a person in my life. Time to go disappear into a book for awhile, I think. Forcing my mind to tackle another task can make space for new thoughts.

These are some of my reset buttons. They hit a trigger point for me, that allows me to move forward when I feel like I’m spinning my wheels. They help me refresh my thinking, and find renewed energy for the needful things.

Are you spinning your wheels? Do you know where your reset buttons are?
