“Do you not know that your bodies are temples… Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
– 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NIV
There’s a lot of talk about body image in our society. We’re preoccupied with how we’re perceived, how we look, and how we stand with our peers. The nuts and bolts of it, however, are that our bodies are temples.
And temples are sacred.
Treat your self, your body, in this way. Don’t trash your body, whether with harmful words, harmful foods, and harmful practices. (We can argue all day about what is harmful, of course.)
Our bodies were given to us. Our existence was given to us. Do you honor your body, your existence, given to you by God? What does it mean to you to honor God with your body?
